Interviewer: Good morning sir!
Prashant Sir: Good morning dear! Good morning!
Interviewer: Today, we are here from the Press Team to take your short interview. Let’s start now, shall
we?
Prashant Sir: Yes, let’s begin dear.
Interviewer: First of all, can you please share with us a bit about your MUN experience?
Prashant Sir: Okay. Thank you for your wonderful question. Actually, many of us were unaware about
the MUN culture in the beginning. It was in the year 2012, most probably, when for the first time we
came to know about MUN through RBS. It was Sheetal Ma’am at that time who helped us to know about
MUN. We went there. We took our participants there. We made them learn and helped them to
practice over there.
Then, from the year 2012, we have been into this culture of MUN at this school. Ever since then, the
MUN experience has really been good, especially for the students as they determine a lot of leadership
qualities. They grow a lot of cooperation skill, communication skill as well as negotiation skill and
drawing conclusion from any point. So, I think it has helped the students at most to determine the
leadership skill.
Interviewer: What do you think is the best part of MUN?
Prashant Sir: The best part of MUN is the leadership skill. That is what I always believe. I would like to
add my favorite quote here: “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he’ll be
able to eat for a lifetime. So, I think we should come out from the spoon-feeding process which I am
totally against of. I always want the students to be very much independent, taking up the leadership
skills within them. So, the best part of the MUN is building up confidence, building up the leadership
skills within them and learning to do everything by oneself.
Interviewer: Have the participants of this year’s MUN met your expectation?
Prashant Sir: Absolutely. We were unable to have the MUN last year due to the pandemic. That was the
year we had just begun the online classes. Everything was new. Everything was challenging. But I took
everything as an opportunity. Last year we couldn’t do it but still although there was a gap of a year, the
students have done quite well. And I have to say that they have done quite wonderfully in their
committees.
Interviewer: How has TES MUN evolved ever since its initiation?
Prashant Sir: So, since its initiation, it has always added one more step. It has evolved into an entirely
different mode. And this time I am very happy because it has gone from physical to virtual. The students
have proved that even this kind of great program can be conducted virtually.
Interviewer: What are the objectives of this Modal United Nations?
Prashant Sir: I think I have already talked about it a lot in the beginning. The objective of the Modal
United Nations is having different sort of skill development in the students like the leadership skill, the
negotiation skill, skill of drawing conclusion and many more. So, these are the objectives that we want
our students to be fulfilled with.
Interviewer: Until few years back, MUN was strictly physical and now it has been organized virtually. Can
you please tell us some pros and cons of this virtual MUN?
Prashant Sir: Everything has got a positive as well as a negative side, my dear. It depends on how you
look at the thing. There are some people who always like to think that everything is negative. They see
negativity in everything. Let me tell you a story:
There was once a man who bought a dog. The specialty of the dog was that it could fly. The man wanted
to show everyone that the dog he had bought could fly. So, he took the dog to a place nearby a river and
he released a ball to the air. Every time the ball was in the air, the dog could go up in the air and catch
the ball and bring it back. Even when the ball was released above the river, the dog flew and caught the
ball and brought it back. He asked his friends, “So, what do you think about my dog? Did you see any
difference?” To this his friends replied, “Your dog can’t swim.”
So, it is the same. The dog had a different capacity. He had a different skill set. But still what the people
noticed and saw was the negative aspect. So, it is what we see that makes the difference. It is what we
feel and it is what we realize. The same is with the MUN going from physical to virtual. I see more
positive things than the drawbacks. But still, some of the cons if I have to point out then it would be
that there has been a little bit of difficulty in gathering everyone at once since we don’t have the culture
of responding, following up and taking our own responsibility. We try to give the responsibility to others.
So, that creates a little bit of problem.
But in my opinion, this saves time. This saves everything. You can research. Doing physically here in the
school, the researching would have been quite difficult here because of the internet issues but everyone
is using their own computers and their own internet facilities. So, students have got ample amount of
time and ample amount of research. You can research whenever the committee is running. So, it has got
more pros than cons.
Interviewer: In your opinion which one is more interesting: the virtual MUN or the physical MUN?
Prashant Sir: Okay, both are interesting. Virtual MUN has got its own importance. As I said before, it is
very resourceful whereas in the physical MUN the school would have been a different place to come. So,
physically it would have been something different in physical sense but virtually whenever we’re having
MUN, it is much more resourceful to the students, to the participants, to the delegates, to the Chairs
and all.
Interviewer: Lastly, do you have any message for the students?
Prashant Sir; Yes, I do have few. Always build up a positive attitude. The attitude is very important.
Secondly, take your responsibility. Cooperate with your fellow members. Communicate well. And always
follow the work ethics. Work is worship.
Interviewer: Thank you so much Sir for joining us today. We hope you have a great day.
Prashant Sir: Thank you.
