Diya Khadka

I used to be a girl who showed interest in storybooks. I used to be someone who was active in her studies. When I heard about the term “MUN” I was curious about it. I asked every senior of the school I knew. “You will know when you experience yourself”. That phrase was repeated to me whenever the question was asked.

Finally, in grade 7, I got to take part in TES MUN. As a reporter of the DISEC committee, I was fascinated when I saw my seniors debating. I wanted to be one of them, raise the placards, attack the opponents and defend myself with great points.

Just after a year, I got to play the role of delegate. “Am I really capable of being a delegate? I have never been able to speak without hesitating in front of a mass,” I still remember how I wished for everything to go well the night before. As the saying goes, “If you never try you will never know”, I tried. Then… then I was able to come out of my comfort zone and let my thoughts flow like a gushing river. I got so much confidence that I wanted to answer every question and ask questions to everyone present.

However, at the end of the day, I am still a girl who shows interest in storybooks and still someone who is active in her studies. But now, I am able to express myself fearlessly and am proud of that achievement.

Good afternoon chairperson Mr. Sarin Kandel, chief guest Madam Sheetal Rana, special guest Mr. Ram Basnet, Administrative Incharge Mr.Niraj Bikram Rana, Principal Mr. Prashant Rajak,

MUN coordinator Mr.Govinda Gautam,

Instructional Supervisors, Incharges, teachers

Dais members, press and IT team, and all the delegates.

I am Diya Khadka, the chair of Legislative Parliament 1. Virtual TES MUN for me has become a special memory because it is held virtually for the first time and also because my committee ran very smoothly. Yes, there was difficulty in making the delegates understand procedures, yet the thrill of their points, planning crisis, and seeing the excitement on their faces on hearing the twist, all became a memorable experience for me.

So, for making the committee fun and interesting, I would like to thank the delegates who participated actively and my dais members who helped me make the committee productive.

I am very happy that each and every delegate participated and came out of their comfort zone. Everyone spoke with confidence, however, there is always a best out of bests. So now proceeding with the awards I would like to invite my vice-chair and moderator to declare the name of the awardees.
