Good afternoon! Chair of the closing ceremony and Secretary General of the TESMUN 2021 Mr. Sarin Kandel, Honorable Chairperson of the School Madam Sheetal Rana, Honorable Managing Director Mr. Ram Basnet, Respected Administrative In-charge Mr. Niraj Bikram Rana, In-charges, Supervisors, teachers, delegates and members of IT and Press Committee!
Things may come and things may go. The effects they have made remain with us. People may come and people may go. The experience we have with them remains with us. The TESMUN also comes and goes however the experience that has been carved remains with us. Remember! Experience is the best teacher. As English poet John Keats says, ‘Nothing becomes real unless you experience.’
That’s why we emphasize on experiential learning. We involve you in activities that build up your skills. My dear students, I could see you all working hard and pushing yourselves beyond the horizons that you had set earlier. You have taken up the challenges and proven yourself. You have made the TESMUN-2021 a grand success.
This is our signature programme. Our chairperson Madam Sheetal Rana brought this programme to the school in 2012 intending to provide multifarious opportunities to our students. She had envisioned that our students should be aware of the national and international affairs. They need to be equipped with the skills of researching, debating, and negotiating. Since then, we have been leading this programme every year except in 2020.
2020 had been a year of chaos caused by Covid-19. We did discuss the ways to conduct MUN in 2020 as well but we were yet getting used to the new normal. Now, we are in a better position than before. The entire society is growing techno-friendly and so are we. Now everything is going virtual. Even the UN conferences and international conventions are going virtual. So we ventured to lead it virtually and we have done it successfully.
Dear ones, success does not come out of the blue. Like you need to churn the curd to get cream out of it, you need to wrestle within and churn yourself to get the best self of yourself. It needs continuous hard work and a systematic approach. Generally, people see your success but they do not see how much work you have put behind it.
Let me tell you a story. You might have heard of Pablo Picasso. He was one of the finest painters of the modern era. Born in Spain, he went to Paris, the city of art and glamour, to pursue his career as a painter. At the age of 15, he was away from home roaming along the Paris streets trying to copy the masters to produce an artwork. He had a dream of being a best seller artist. It was not easy especially in France. He worked. He lived. He sold and he earned. Only art was his life. He breathed in art. He breathed out art. His eyes and mind all were filled with art. Day and night, he would practice. He mastered his skills.
Do you know masters do not quit their passion? Even after 30 years of his stay in Paris, one day he was walking along the street. A gorgeous lady saw him. She called and asked if he could sketch her picture. Picasso just took out a canvas from his bag and made a perfect sketch in 30 seconds. The sketch looked perfectly like the lady.
Taking the sketch in her hand, the lady asked, “How much shall I pay you?”
“3000 francs,” he said.
“3000 francs?!” 3000 francs for just the work of 30 seconds replied the lady.
Then Picasso said, Madam to be able to sketch it in 30 seconds I have spent 30 years practicing it.
You see this is how masters are made. Every days’ experience counts. Thus, make sure you are improving a little every day. As Malcom Gladwell says, “It takes 10000 hours to truly master anything”. Also remember Chanakya the great teacher of the ancient world said, “You do not have time to experience everything yourself. Thus, observe people doing mistakes. Learn from their mistakes”.
We were trying to equip you with skills to observe, the importance of perseverance, and the capabilities of the human spirit. I hope you will not let light kindled in your heart today die out. You will make the world a better place to live in. As teachers, we live in you and your life. For us, there is nothing beyond your success.
Wishing you all the best in your life.
Thank you!
Thank you all.
