Interviewer: Good afternoon secretary-general, we from the press team are here to take a short interview with you.

Sec-Gen: Good afternoon, Yes we may start.

Interviewer: First of all, can you please share with us a bit about your MUN experience.

Sec-Gen: I have had three years of experience before this session. I was in the Vox pop team in grade seven and had a lot of fun interviewing people. In grade eight I got to act as the delegate of Mahanta Thakur. I wasn’t able to speak in the beginning but I got better with time. Last year in grade nine, we couldn’t have MUN in the school but I got an opportunity to go to RBS MUN. It was a great experience and I learned a lot.

Interviewer: What encouraged you to run for Sec Gen?

Sec-Gen: I wanted to be the chair of DISEC but the committee couldn’t exist due to some problems. The post of secretary-general just so happened to be empty at that time. So, I thought joining the post would help to boost my leadership skills. That was the main reason I run for Sec-Gen.

Interviewer: How was the sec gen chosen and how did you feel when you were declared as the sec gen of TES MUN?

Sec-Gen: I don’t know the internal process but Govinda sir declared the names to us. When I was chosen the Sec-Gen my first thought was there were better people for the job then I realized they were wonderful with their own job so I was happy about the selection.

Interviewer: What are the topics being discussed in the committees?

Sec-Gen: There is a various set of topics being discussed in the MUN session right now. Topics ranging from racism to the impact of climate change in the international committees and the impact of the pandemic in migrant labor to financial scarcity and international tapes of Nepal in the national committees.

Interviewer: How are the participants benefited from discussing those kinds of topics?

Sec-Gen: The main thing that the delegates get to learn from the topics is the ability to solution-finding. They are able to search for solutions from local and national issues. Which will help them in the process of critical thinking.

Interviewer: How have the delegates been performing?

Sec-Gen: The delegates are performing wonderfully. They have been improving day by day and they are doing better.

Interviewer: have they met your expectations?

Sec-Gen: Yes they have been meeting my expectations. After they found out about the procedures they are doing great.

Interviewer: How is the virtual MUN different from the physical ones?

Sec-Gen: There are many differences, people can easily leave the session making it harder for dais members to control the session. similarly, it is harder to order but we have got some advantages. Delegates can research more and even during the committee which might help them in the committee.

Interviewer: As the head of the MUN, you must focus on all the committees equally, have you ever felt a lot of pressure upon yourself?

Sec-Gen: No, not at all the dais are doing their job with great dedication and it is they who are taking all the pressure and working hard.

Interviewer: You have become a delegate before in past years, in your opinion what makes the best delegate?

Sec-Gen: I think the delegates who cooperate with other delegates and keeps their view without any fear will make the best delegate.

Interviewer: Which committee did you enjoy the most?

Sec-Gen: Deciding one out of these six committees might be a hard task. All of them are doing great in their own way. Everyone is improving in their own way and you get to experience new things every time you visit the committees.

Interviewer: What makes this MUN different from the others?

Sec-Gen: MUN is different from other programs in our school as the students do all of the jobs and they participate in all the aspects of MUN themselves. So, this is one of the unique factors of MUN and the factor making MUN one of the best academic programs.

Interviewer: Suppose a delegate hasn’t spoken in any sessions, As sec gen what is your role and how would you help them?

Sec-Gen: I will ask him/her to research more and I will ask him/her to try to work more on finding solution and resolution writing. If he/she is not able to speak in the committee finding solution should be the priority as finding a solution is national and internationally is one of the most important aspects of MUN.

Interviewer: Lastly, Any suggestions for the delegates?

Sec-Gen: I will suggest them to give their best and ask them to focus on enhancing their performance even more.

Interviewer: Thank you so much sec gen for giving us your precious time. We hope you have a great day.

Sec-Gen: Thank you for having me.
