The final session of MUN was held on September 12, Sunday. It started with a wonderful opening ceremony hosted by Sanskar Gyawali and Shikha Pandey.
The first speaker on the GSL was the delegate of Iraq ( Shreya Tiwari). She mentioned, “For a long time racism has taken place in economic and religious regions of Iraq. Here, racism is based on color, ethnicity, gender, etc. Iraq has been supporting racism for more than 11 years”.
The delegate of Myanmar mentioned, “Myanmar, a country where there was freedom just a few years back, is now facing the problem of racism between the Buddhist monks and Muslims." The delegate also gave some information about the history of Myanmar. The delegate added, ”Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi initiated the creation of the constitution on anti- racial rights but unfortunately the military leader Min Aung Hlaing seized the power of government and stopped all activities of the government.”
Later, a moderated caucus was raised by many delegates on different motions but with the majority of votes on the motion (Causes of racism and reformation of it) raised by the delegate of Germany (Pratik Lama) passed. After Germany stated his points on the topic, many questions were raised. The delegate of Syria (Ayan Subedi) questioned “ What has Germany done to avoid racism?” To that the delegate of Germany replied, “Germany has given anti- racial rights in the constitution. The government takes legal action if any kind of racism is found.”
Many delegates tried to downplay each other's opinions whereas many supported each other's ideas and opinions. Delegates were passive at first but later everyone was actively participating to make the committee more lively. Every delegate tried their best to do good in this final session of MUN and the dais members were happy with their efforts.
