Impact of Pandemic on Migrant Labor

After the delegate of K.P. Oli (Shreya Kadayat) raised a motion to start GSL, she gave her speech as the first speaker stating that her party had been working to bring back the laborers that were in a dire situation.
The delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba (Peter Rajiv Kandel) then immediately questioned her saying, “The delegate pointed out that the delegate’s party will continuously perform certain activities for the livelihood of the migrant laborers. If this kind of pandemic rises again, what will the delegate do for the livelihood of the migrant laborers?”, To this, the delegate of K.P. Oli (Shreya Kadayat) answered saying, “In the future, if such kind of pandemic rises again, the delegate and the delegate’s party will create job opportunities in the country. For that, the delegate’s party launched the Prime Minister employment program when the delegate’s party was in the government.” The delegate of Gokul Baskota (Tejaswi Pant) soon joined the debate to support the delegate of K.P. Oli (Shreya Kadayat).
After the end of the GSL of the delegate of Gokul Baskota (Tejaswi Pant), the delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba (Peter Rajiv Kandel) asked, “The delegate stated that the delegate’s party has conducted many activities to help the victims of Corona Virus but the number of Covid-19 victims was extremely high during presidency of K.P. Oli. It is also said that the delegate neglected the victims of the second wave coronavirus. Why is that?” To this, the delegate of Gokul Baskota (Tejaswi Pant) responded by saying, “The pandemic was a very unpredictable situation. When the delegate’s party was in the government, coronavirus spread across the country in just a few days. The vaccine wasn’t ready either but the delegate’s party tried their best to help the victims of the virus.”
The debate continued after the delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba (Peter Rajiv Kandel) asked, “If the delegate’s party wasn’t neglecting the victims, then why was the lockdown lifted?” The delegate of Gokul Baskota (Tejaswi Pant) then responded by saying that the citizens were unable to make money and started having financial problems which forced the party to lift the lockdown. The delegate of Rajendra Mahato (Aarushi Karki) then questioned the delegate of Gokul Baskota (Tejaswi Pant) while the delegate of K.P. Oli (Shreya Kadayat) joined the debate to defend the delegate of Gokul Baskota (Tejaswi Pant).
After the end of GSL, two motions were raised by the delegates of K.P. Oli (Shreya Kadayat) and Sher Bahadur Deuba (Peter Rajiv Kandel) to start a moderate caucus. Among them, the motion raised by the delegate of K.P. Oli(Shreya Kadayat) on the topic, “Increase of opportunities leads to decrease of migrant labor” passed by a two-third majority. The delegate of K.P. Oli(Shreya Kadayat) then presented her speech and soon faced a question raised by the delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba saying, “The delegate stated that the delegate’s party strongly encourages the growth of the number of occupations in the country. What plan does the delegate have in order to secure this future?” The delegate of K.P. Oli(Shreya Kadayat) then responded by saying that her party plans on conducting more activities to provide job opportunities.
The delegate of Bina Magar (Aananda Thapa Magar) and Gokul Baskota (Tejaswi Pant) then joined the debate as the delegate of Anil Kumar Jha (Pratigya Rimal) questioned the delegate of K.P. Oli(Shreya Kadayat), “The delegate of K.P. Oli said that the government can’t take the risk of letting the migrant laborers inside the country. Is the delegate trying to say that the migrant laborers are the cause of virus spreading in the country and that the migrants are not as important as the other citizens of the country?” The point was appreciated by the Chair of the committee.
The delegate of K.P. Oli (Shreya Kadayat) then defended herself and questioned the delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba (Peter Rajiv Kandel) about his lack of involvement in helping the migrant laborers. The delegate of Bina Magar (Ananda Thapa Magar) then added, “Now that the delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba is in the government, the number of unemployed people has increased compared to 2019 and 2020. Covid might also be a factor contributing to the increase in unemployment but now that things are going back to normal, does the delegate think that the unemployment percentage will go down, or will it be the same? More rich people get job opportunities. We need a developed country and workers with a clear objective of the development of the country, not rich people with no objective. Can the delegate prove that in the future, the suitable people will get job opportunities?” The Chair of the committee noted the point as notable.
The delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba (Peter Rajiv Kandel) then made an effort to defend himself. The delegate of Gagan Kumar Thapa (Salina Gurung) then supported the delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba (Peter Rajiv Kandel) which calmed the debate while the delegates kept putting their opinions and questions forward.
