September 13 was scheduled for the 2nd as well as the last day of MUN-2077 where every dais member and the delegates were in their respective committee which started after the roll call. With the 4/4 majority, the delegate of Brazil(Kritik Kapri) raised the motion to start the GSL on the main topic "Supervision of recovery protocols of the pandemic and circulation of vaccines", and gave the GSL being the default speaker.
The delegate of Germany(Abhinav Thapaliya) raised a question,” Why does Brazil have the highest death rate?” The delegate of Brazil(Kritik Kapri) answered, “There are many citizens the government is trying to control.”
After the GSL of the delegate of Brazil (Kritik Kapri), the delegate of Malaysia (Samyak Shakya) gave his GSL. The delegate of Malaysia(Samyak Shakya) stated about the first phase of lockdown on 1st June. The delegate of Italy asked, “53% of citizens are already vaccinated. However, the death rate in Malaysia is still the same.” The delegate of Malaysia(Samyak Shakya) replied that they are trying their best to vaccinate all of the citizens.
It was time for the delegate of Ukraine (Arjan Khanal) to give his GSL, the delegate was open for questions and comments. Seizing the opportunity, the delegate of Nigeria asked, ”Why aren't the people fully vaccinated?” The delegate of Ukraine (Arjan Khanal) replied,” Ukraine is lacking in vaccines. So, vaccinations are going on slowly.” Adding more, the delegate of Italy raised a question asking, ”Ukraine was given more than 2 million vaccines. Still, why aren't the country’s citizens fully vaccinated? Is the country keeping the vaccine for future use?" The delegate of Ukraine replied, "The country has a high population.”
When the delegates were giving their GSL, a crisis introduced that the number of sick people in South America had increased and the reason was found to be a new virus that had been found in Argentina. Many countries believed this to be a virus created by Argentina. The spread has also reached the U.S.A and some European countries and it is still spreading but the Argentinian government has not taken any step towards it.All the delegates actively participated to find a solution to the crisis.
Taking responsibility, the delegate of Argentina (Aayush Dhakal) said, “Any kind of new virus found in the country doesn't mean that the country created it". “The delegates’ country hasn't done anything to stop it so is the country even trying to control the virus?“Says the delegate of Netherlands (Dipasha Upadhyaya) questioning the delegate of Argentina.
The delegate of Argentina replied,” The country hasn't created any virus to come in power, the country also has a lot of covid cases and even the country is trying to vaccinate everyone and get the country fully vaccinated.” The delegate of Nigeria (Samriddhi Shah) said, "The countries should not accuse Argentina of not finding the virus in 6 hours".
Other delegates were against the delegate of Argentina and were asking Argentina why the country wasn't aware of it. Meanwhile, the delegate of Argentina( Aayush Dhakal) and Nigeria( Sambriddhi shah) were defending themselves, telling the virus has just came 6 hours ago and the country is trying to control the situation, and also said that it hadn’t been confirmed that the vaccine has came from Argentina.
The delegate of Nigeria( Sambriddhi shah) said that countries should work together and not interfere. Whereas the other delegates were blaming the government of Argentina. The delegate of Nigeria( Sambriddhi shah) and Argentina( Aayush Dhakal) asked Brazil about” how did Brazil know about the news?” The crisis was really going very well and all delegates were actively participating.
Following the debate, the crisis had an update, saying Argentina was not the one who made the virus, and the time for the crisis was added. The delegate of Argentina firmly says that the delegate of Brazil is clearly discussing that Argentina and USA should have good relations to spread the vaccines as there are a lot of powerful countries to spread the virus but USA blindly chose Argentina for it. The delegate of Italy was on fire talking about controlling the virus by unity rather than blaming others.
At last, the committee ended with the resolution that strong countries should be helping weak countries in this pandemic . Developed countries have more financial resources than developing countries which can be used to help other countries. If developed countries help other underdeveloped countries, then they can be benefited. If developed countries become a helping hand for other countries, the whole world can overcome this situation easily.” With this resolution, the virtual TESMUN 2021 ended.
